Ayo Adesanya Discusses the Impact of Artificial Beauty Enhancements in Nollywood

Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya recently shared her views on the rising popularity of artificial beauty enhancements, such as the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), within the Nigerian film industry. During an interview with The Nation Newspaper at a recent movie premiere, Adesanya expressed concern that, while these trends may be in vogue now, they may not last long, highlighting the transient nature of such fads in Nollywood's history.

The actress emphasized that talent should always take precedence over artificial enhancements in the entertainment industry. She stated that actors should focus on honing their craft rather than investing in superficial attributes. "While it's true that people seem to place high value on the artificial these days, there are still many who appreciate originality," Adesanya remarked. "As an actor, you must decide what path you want to take, but remember, trends like BBL may not last forever. Change is inevitable, and what's popular today might not hold the same appeal tomorrow."

Adesanya also pointed out that being talented should be the ultimate goal, rather than relying on cosmetic enhancements to gain attention. "When you have something valuable to offer, your talent should be more important than anything artificial," she added. "After all, are all films going to revolve around superficial appearances?"

In addition to her thoughts on beauty trends, the actress recently reflected on her personal journey, revealing the emotional toll of her past 10-year abusive relationship and how it led her to alcoholism. Ayo Adesanya had previously been in a relationship with Nollywood actor Goriola Hassan, with whom she shares a son.
