Bishop J.Y. Adu Predicts Loss of Popular Musicians in 2026 Amid Prophecy Backlash

Bishop John Yaw Adu, founder and leader of New Jerusalem Chapel, has sparked controversy with his latest prophetic declaration. Speaking during the 31st December Watch Night Service, the bishop foretold a period of mourning in Ghana, attributing it to the deaths of several well-known musicians in 2026.

Bishop Adu’s prophecy, delivered with conviction, has since made waves online, with many Ghanaians taking to social media to react. “I foresee the nation mourning,” he said during his address to his congregation. “Some musicians who have greatly impacted lives with their music will pass on. Our tears are not over, and I see the nation in sorrow,” he continued.

In 2025, Ghana was already rocked by the loss of prominent musicians, including Daddy Lumba, Dada KD, and Tiwaa of Asomafo fame. The death of Daddy Lumba, one of the country's most influential musical figures, was particularly impactful.

Bishop Adu rose to prominence for his prophecies, including one in January 2025, which predicted a fire outbreak. This prophecy became reality when the Kantamanto Market was consumed by fire in the early hours of January 2, 2025. His track record of fulfilled predictions has contributed to his growing influence in the country.

The video of the bishop’s latest prophecy has already garnered over 2,000 likes and dozens of comments, with many Ghanaians offering mixed reactions.

### Public Reaction

Among the netizens who commented on the video, opinions were divided. Some expressed concern, praying that the prophecy would be averted, while others questioned its authenticity.

One user, Yaw Dwarkwaa, wrote, “This man is very powerful. I still remember the prophecy he gave about the market fire last year. I think MUSIGA should act now before the unthinkable happens. God reveals to redeem.”

However, other comments reflected skepticism. A user identified as *user7923458216192* questioned why the prophecy only focused on the deaths of rich and famous individuals, asking, "So nobody will predict that a mason, carpenter, or any Okada rider will die, only the rich people? Are we not human beings too?"

Other critics voiced doubts about the accuracy of the bishop's previous prophecies, with one commenter referencing a 2024 election prediction, asking, "Did he say Bawumia would win the 2024 elections? Did that come true?"

Despite the mixed reactions, some supporters were quick to praise Bishop Adu’s prophetic insight, claiming his track record made him a credible source of divine revelations.

### A Rising Voice in Prophecy

Bishop Adu’s influence in Ghana has steadily grown, especially with his increasing presence on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, where his prophecies are widely shared. His ability to predict significant events has earned him a devoted following, though his predictions also draw sharp criticism from those who view them with suspicion.

In a related prophecy, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel, also made headlines by predicting the release of Nana Agradaa from prison before her sentence ends, another prediction delivered during the 31st December Watch Night Service.

As the year progresses, it remains to be seen how Bishop Adu's prophecy will unfold and whether it will be met with the same skepticism or faith that his past messages have generated.
