Jospong Group Spreads New Year Joy with Food and Cash Gifts to Over 5,000 Ghanaians

On New Year’s Day (January 1, 2026), Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Adelaide Siaw Agyepong, continued their decade-long tradition of spreading festive cheer by providing essential food items and transportation assistance to over 5,000 Ghanaians at their residence in Accra.

The event saw thousands of individuals from both near and far gathering at the Agyepongs' Accra home to receive food packages and drinks, marking a significant gesture of goodwill as the new year began.

In a thoughtful addition to this annual initiative, the couple also provided cash gifts to help with transportation costs, alleviating some of the financial burden many face during the holiday season.

Ernest Morgan Acquah, Public Relations Manager for Zoomlion Ghana Limited, spoke to the media about the event. He explained that this is part of a longstanding tradition by the Jospong Group Chairman to give back to the community at the start of each year.

“The Executive Chairman has always made it a point to welcome people from all over the community—many travel from places like Kasoa, Madina, and other surrounding areas. On New Year's Eve, they are greeted with New Year gifts,” Acquah said.

This year’s outreach was larger than ever, with over 5,000 people benefiting from the gesture. Initially, the program had reached around 4,500 individuals, but it was later expanded to accommodate even more recipients.

Each food package included items such as tin tomatoes, cooking oil, five kilograms of rice, mackerel, a soft drink, and cash for transportation.

Acquah emphasized that the motivation behind the initiative was to give thanks to the community and share blessings in line with biblical principles, stating, “When you have, it’s important to extend a hand to those who do not.”

The program has been running for about eight to ten years now, and Acquah revealed that the number of beneficiaries has steadily increased over time—from around 4,500 last year to over 5,000 this year.

This gesture serves as a clear demonstration of the Agyepongs' ongoing commitment to community development and prosperity. Their efforts ensured that many Ghanaians began the new year with not just food, but also a sense of care and support from their leaders.
