The UK government has committed £1 million in funding to enhance efforts to tackle people-smuggling networks in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, the Home Office announced. This funding will help strengthen initiatives aimed at disrupting criminal organisations involved in human trafficking.
In addition to this, the UK has launched a targeted advertising campaign on the Vietnamese social media platform Zalo. The campaign aims to raise awareness among potential migrants about the dangers of trusting people-smuggling gangs, offering critical information to help prevent illegal migration.
In a related development, Tory shadow minister Alex Burghart appeared on the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme, stating that Labour's decision to cancel the Rwanda deportation plan was a mistake. He emphasized that the plan was an important measure in tackling illegal migration.
Earlier in the programme, Labour’s Yvette Cooper discussed plans to introduce new checks on unauthorized working, which she believes will contribute to reducing the levels of illegal migration into the UK.
