Three Suspects Arrested in Wassa Afransie Gold Robbery

The Western Central Regional Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with a gold robbery incident that occurred at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.

The suspects — Felix Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei, Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national, and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse — are accused of launching an armed attack on employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited, making away with gold and valuables worth an estimated GHS 199,000.00.

According to police investigations, on April 4, 2025, company driver Kofi Appiah and his colleague Emmanuel Adu were transporting gold from a client in Wassa Ayiem when they were ambushed. Armed assailants reportedly emerged from a nearby bush and fired warning shots before robbing the pair of 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned.

On April 21, 2025, police arrested Kofi Appiah at his residence in Wassa Akropong. Subsequent intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the remaining suspects at separate hideouts.

During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a pump-action shotgun, a pistol, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 ammunition rounds, a locally manufactured pistol, and cash amounting to GHS 65,000, suspected to be proceeds from the robbery.

A police statement confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. They will be formally charged and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

In a motion filed by his legal team, Ofori-Atta argues that the OSP's actions violate the principles of administrative justice, specifically the right to a fair process and the protection of his personal dignity.
