Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb wasn’t suited up for Saturday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, but that didn’t stop him from making an unexpected appearance—this time as part of a sideline mishap.
During the second quarter, backup quarterback Joe Milton launched a deep pass intended for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo. As the ball soared downfield, Lamb turned away from the play on the sideline to celebrate what he believed might be a highlight-reel catch.
However, instead of a touchdown celebration, Lamb found himself on the receiving end of a shoulder—delivered unintentionally by a game official. The two collided near the white boundary line that separates the field from the officiating area, knocking both to the ground.
Lamb was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct due to the contact. Per NFL rules, the thick white sideline is considered off-limits, and any interference with officials in that space results in a penalty.
Fortunately, the incident was more humorous than harmful. Both Lamb and the Cowboys sideline laughed off the accidental collision. Despite the penalty, Dallas managed to recover and finish the drive with a successful field goal.
It served as a light-hearted reminder that preseason is a time for everyone—players, officials, and even star receivers on the sideline—to shake off the rust.
