Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has opened up about her past romantic relationships, admitting that dating men who were not financially on her level was a mistake she no longer intends to repeat.
In an honest conversation with media personality Zeze Mills, the award-winning singer revealed that her perspective on love and relationships has shifted over time. Savage, best known for hits like Koroba, said she once prioritized love over financial stability, but she now values financial compatibility as a key factor in choosing a partner.
“I used to make the mistake of dating men with less money, telling myself love was enough. But at this stage in my life, I need someone who is financially stable,” she shared. “Love is beautiful, but I’m now at a point where financial security matters to me. People can judge me if they want, but I’m ready to try something different.”
She further explained, “I’ve dated for love for many years. Now, I want to see what it’s like being with someone who is wealthy.”
Savage’s comments come years after her high-profile marriage to music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz. The couple tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed a son, Jamil. However, they divorced in 2018 after several failed attempts to resolve their differences.
The singer’s candid remarks have sparked conversation online, particularly around the role of financial compatibility in modern relationships.
