Yul Edochie Urges Ndigbo in Diaspora to Return and Invest in Igbo Land Amid Rising Tensions in Ghana
Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has extended a heartfelt appeal to members of the Igbo community living abroad, encouraging them to return home and invest in the development of Igbo land. His message comes in response to recent unrest in Ghana, where protests have emerged calling for Nigerians to leave the country following allegations of criminal activity involving some Nigerians.
These developments have raised concerns among Nigerians living in the diaspora, particularly those from southeastern Nigeria. Addressing the issue via his official Facebook page, Edochie urged Igbos not to retaliate or engage in conflict, even in the face of hostility or rejection abroad. Instead, he described the current situation as a spiritual calling from their ancestors—an invitation to return and contribute to the growth and prosperity of their homeland.
In his message, he wrote:
> “Ndi Igbo, come back home and invest in Igbo land.
> If you’re facing rejection on foreign soil, it’s not a sign to fight anybody—it’s a sign to return home.
> We have wandered for too long.
> Home is calling.
> Our ancestors and spirits in Igbo land are calling us to return and develop home.
> A new dawn has come in Igbo land.
> It’s time to return home.
> *Ana amalu mma si na uno wee puo ilo.*”
Edochie’s statement resonates with growing sentiments among many Nigerians advocating for greater development and self-reliance within their regions, particularly in the face of increasing socio-political instability across parts of Africa.
