Peace has been restored in Sampa, a town in the Bono Region of Ghana, after violent chieftaincy-related clashes erupted on Tuesday, September 10, 2025. The disturbances led to the death of one person and left several others injured, prompting swift intervention by the Ghana Police Service.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the police confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) immediately deployed reinforcement teams to stabilize the situation and ensure public safety.
The conflict, stemming from ongoing traditional leadership disputes, created significant fear and tension among residents. According to the police, calm has now been restored, with heightened security measures and increased patrols underway in Sampa and surrounding communities.
"The police have since restored calm, beefed up security and intensified patrols within Sampa and surrounding communities," the statement said.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased or injured, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, particularly in communities affected by chieftaincy disputes—an issue that has historically triggered unrest in several parts of the country.
