The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has successfully retrieved three government vehicles from the residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who serves as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The operation was led by MASLOC CEO, Abigail Elorm Mensah, in collaboration with officials from National Security. Speaking during an interview, Ms. Mensah disclosed that a total of five government vehicles were identified at Chairman Wontumi’s residence, but only three were recovered during the operation.
“There were five cars in total. We managed to retrieve three, and we are still pursuing him for the remaining two. He has to pay for them,” Ms. Mensah said.
This vehicle retrieval is part of MASLOC’s broader initiative aimed at reclaiming government assets and outstanding loans from individuals who have defaulted. According to Ms. Mensah, MASLOC policies require the repayment or return of such assets in cases of misuse or non-compliance.
“Our policy stipulates that once vehicles are seized, the individual must settle all outstanding payments before the cars can be returned,” she explained.
She further revealed that similar cases have been referred to law enforcement agencies as part of MASLOC’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public property and ensure accountability.
The recovery campaign is part of a renewed push by MASLOC to strengthen transparency, protect public resources, and enforce the proper use of state-owned assets.
