Man Sparks Outrage After Revealing Python Used as Home Security

A young man has stirred widespread reactions online after revealing that he keeps a large python in his home for security purposes.

In a video that quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), the man explained that he strategically placed the snake near the entrance of his apartment to deter intruders. At the beginning of the clip, he states:
“Just in case you feel like opening the door to the entrance of my apartment, let me show you something.”

He then moves towards the door and reveals a massive python lying silently in a corner by the entrance. The snake's sheer size and calm demeanor left many viewers shocked.

The man didn’t stop at showing the python. He also gave a tour of its enclosure, demonstrating how he maintains the snake’s living conditions. The video shows him cleaning the cage, removing waste, changing the sand, and rearranging the space to ensure the reptile’s comfort.

However, the footage sparked intense debate across social media platforms. While some viewers were amused, many expressed serious concern over the safety and legality of keeping such a dangerous animal as a pet—especially in a residential setting.

A user named Valyb joked:
“Pet keee, if that python dies, all eim investment go crumble 🤣.”

Others were more critical. Ihunanya wrote:
“Nigeria is not like Europe, where you can easily access proper medication or emergency care. Keeping such a pet in Nigeria is useless, unless there’s another reason he isn’t willing to share. Snake is a wild creature and shouldn’t be kept as pets.”

Concerns ranged from the potential danger to the owner and neighbors, to the risk of escape or attack. While some netizens found the act entertaining or eccentric, others strongly condemned it, citing the risks and lack of appropriate emergency services in Nigeria.
