Australian actress Nicole Kidman has officially filed for divorce from her husband, country music star Keith Urban, bringing an end to their 19-year marriage.
The couple, who tied the knot on June 25, 2006, in Sydney, Australia, have reportedly cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. According to TMZ, Kidman is seeking primary physical custody of their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, while requesting joint legal custody with Urban.
Custody and Parenting Agreement
Court documents reveal that Kidman will have the children for 306 days of the year, while Urban will have 59 days. Despite this custody arrangement, both parents have agreed to share decision-making responsibilities on major issues affecting the children, including education and healthcare.
Signs of a Quiet Separation
Speculation about the couple's relationship began surfacing in late 2023, when their public appearances together became noticeably less frequent. While they were regulars on red carpets and at industry events in early 2023—including the Golden Globe Awards and Keith Urban’s concert tours—by mid-2023, Kidman was mostly seen promoting her projects, such as the Amazon Prime series Expats, alone. At the same time, Urban focused more on his music career.
Their last joint public appearance was on June 20, 2025, at a FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville, Tennessee. Sources noted that although the couple appeared together, there were visible signs of tension behind their smiles.
A Look Back
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban share two daughters:
- Sunday Rose, born on July 7, 2008
- Faith Margaret, born on December 28, 2010
Their nearly two-decade-long marriage was often viewed as one of Hollywood’s most enduring relationships. The divorce filing marks the end of an era for the couple, who often spoke publicly about their love and support for one another throughout their careers.
