Controversial Nigerian cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has sparked widespread reactions online after publicly criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, labeling him "a businessman rather than a president."
In a now-viral video, the self-proclaimed “Indaboski” questioned Tinubu’s leadership credentials, arguing that a true president should prioritize national development and the well-being of the people.
Odumeje contrasted Tinubu with other world leaders such as former U.S. President Donald Trump, Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom he described as visionary leaders committed to advancing their nations.
“I don’t know who’s calling Tinubu a president. Tinubu is just a businessman. If you want to talk about a president, mention Trump, Ibrahim Traoré, Xi Jinping — those are true leaders,” he stated.
He continued by denouncing the political elite in Nigeria, accusing them of amassing wealth for their families while neglecting the country’s long-term growth. According to him, such self-serving governance has left the nation in a constant state of decline.
“Giant of Africa or Giant of Failure?”
Odumeje also took a swipe at Nigeria's symbolic title as the “Giant of Africa,” calling it misleading and undeserved.
“Nigeria is a giant of failure, not a Giant of Africa,” he declared.
The cleric's bold statements have ignited mixed responses on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing with his criticism and others dismissing it as inflammatory rhetoric.
As the political climate remains tense, particularly in light of Nigeria’s economic challenges, remarks like Odumeje's continue to fuel public debate about the performance and priorities of the country’s leadership.
