The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has urged all government employees to avoid sharing personal or financial information with individuals claiming to represent the department without proper verification.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Cephas N. Dosoo, the department stressed that it does not charge any fees for services provided to government workers. It warned that any calls or messages requesting payment for payroll or related services are fraudulent and should be disregarded.
“We strongly advise all employees to remain vigilant and cautious. Do not release any personal or financial details to anyone claiming to represent our office without confirming their identity. For clarifications or concerns, we encourage government employees to contact the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department directly,” the statement said.
The CAGD noted an increasing trend of scammers impersonating staff members, particularly targeting workers paid through the Integrated Personnel Payroll Database (IPPD). These individuals reportedly call employees to demand payment for various services, especially those connected to payroll processing.
Reiterating its position, the statement emphasized that such demands are fraudulent. The department encouraged employees to report all suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities and to communicate directly with the CAGD through its official contact numbers or email for assistance.
