Firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station successfully rescued 16 individuals following a head-on collision between a Ford Transit (AS 7172-23) and a Kia Rhino (AS 3058-X) on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway at Nyamebekyere.
The accident occurred on the morning of November 18, 2025, after emergency services received a distress call at 5:38 AM.
An eight-member rescue team, led by Senior Fire Officer II Simon Yeboah, quickly arrived at the scene and extracted all 16 passengers—14 from the Ford Transit and 2 from the Kia Rhino. The victims were then transported to Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center for immediate medical attention.
While the victims sustained a range of injuries, fortunately, no fatalities were reported. Both vehicles, however, sustained significant damage.
