A 19-year-old unemployed man, Aaron Attah, has been remanded into prison custody by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality. He pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry, attempted stealing, and causing harm.
Attah is scheduled to reappear before the court, presided over by Ms. Rosemond Dodua Agyiri, on December 18.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu stated that the complainant, Owusu Boakye Yiadom, a Disc Jockey residing in Nketia, encountered the incident on December 2 at around 11 a.m. Yiadom reportedly heard unusual noises when he arrived at his mother’s house on his way to work.
Becoming suspicious, he approached the house and found Attah attempting to force open the main door. Yiadom stayed outside to observe, shortly after which the accused descended from the ceiling in an attempt to flee. When the complainant moved in to apprehend him, Attah allegedly stabbed him in the right shoulder and stomach, causing heavy bleeding.
Attah fled the scene but was pursued and arrested with the assistance of nearby residents. He was subsequently handed over to the Asuofua Police.
The complainant was initially taken to the Suntreso Government Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he remains on admission receiving treatment.
According to the prosecution, Attah admitted to the offenses in his caution statement. Following investigations, he was charged and brought before the court.
