GES Directs Dzodze-Penyi SHS Headmaster to Step Aside Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Mr. Joshua Vidzro, to step aside immediately following allegations of sexual misconduct involving some female students.

The directive was issued in a letter dated December 6, 2025, by the Volta Regional Directorate of Education. According to the letter, the decision is intended to “guarantee the integrity of the investigative process.”

GES emphasized that the allegations “require urgent investigation,” making it necessary for Mr. Vidzro to temporarily halt all official duties.

“You are hereby instructed to forthwith, formally hand over all official duties, responsibilities, records, and any property of the Dzodze-Penyi SHS presently under your custody,” the letter stated.

Mr. Vidzro has also been instructed to vacate the school premises by Monday, December 8, 2025, after completing the handover process. Additionally, he has been cautioned to avoid any direct or indirect contact with the female students involved and any potential witnesses.

GES clarified that the directive “does not constitute a determination or presumption of guilt,” describing it instead as an administrative measure designed to protect due process and ensure a fair investigation.

The Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been directed to assume responsibility for the administration and management of the school until further notice.
