A Nigerian woman has ignited widespread conversation on social media after revealing that a stranger allegedly gifted her ₦1 million simply because he admired her hairy legs.
The woman shared her experience in a viral video, explaining that the unexpected encounter happened on the roadside. According to her, the man stopped her, complimented her appearance, and said she resembled someone he knew. Initially assuming he recognized her from social media, she engaged him politely.
She recounted that during their brief conversation, the man asked whether she had purchased clothes for Christmas. When she replied that she had not, he requested her bank account details. Moments later, she received a credit alert of ₦1 million. She added that the man collected her phone number, handed her his business card, and asked her to contact him. However, she stated that she had no intention of doing so, noting that she already has a boyfriend.
Reacting to the incident, the woman expressed shock at how easily such a large sum of money was given for what she described as a trivial reason. She questioned societal priorities, pointing out that many people work tirelessly for months without earning a fraction of that amount.
She also criticised what she described as double standards in society. According to her, women are often labelled “gold diggers,” yet situations like this suggest that some men actively encourage such behaviour. In her words, if women are seen as “gold diggers,” then some men are equally “gold planters.”
The story has since generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users criticised the man’s actions as irresponsible, others agreed with the woman’s observations about societal values and financial priorities.
