The mother of self-styled prophet and content creator Ebo Noah has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and other prominent Ghanaian leaders to intervene and help secure her son’s release from police custody.
In an emotional video circulating on social media platform X, the visibly distressed woman called on President Mahama, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and renowned actress Nana Ama McBrown to show compassion and assist her family during the difficult period.
She acknowledged that her son’s actions were inappropriate but explained that the family lacks the financial capacity to endure a prolonged legal process. According to her, Ebo Noah may have been influenced by the attention and pressure that come with social media, which also serves as his primary source of income.
“This situation has placed a huge financial burden on us. We do not have the means to pursue a lengthy court case,” she said. “My son is not mentally unstable. I believe he was carried away by social media, as that is how he earns his living. As a mother, I am pleading with all distinguished Ghanaians to have mercy on my son.”
Her appeal follows Ebo Noah’s remand into police custody for two weeks after his appearance before the Adenta Circuit Court on Friday, January 2, 2026. The court further ordered that he undergo a psychiatric assessment at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital ahead of the next hearing. The case has been adjourned to Thursday, January 15, 2026.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions among the public. While some sympathise with the mother and argue that Ebo Noah’s actions were motivated by content creation, others maintain that the law must take its course regardless of intent. Several social media users have questioned why he has not secured legal representation, while others suggested that individuals who believed his claims should instead be assessed.
Conversely, critics argue that the mother’s intervention came too late and warn against trivialising false prophecies. Calls for the equal application of the law have also been made, with some cautioning against selective clemency.
Ebo Noah recently attracted national attention after posting videos of himself constructing structures resembling Noah’s Ark in Elmina. He claimed to have received a divine revelation instructing him to build the ark in preparation for a catastrophic flood he prophesied would occur on December 25, 2025. He also invited members of the public who believed in the prophecy to contact him for a place in the ark.
However, on December 24, he announced that the prophesied flood would no longer occur, stating that God had changed His mind following his fasting and prayers.
As legal proceedings continue, the case has reignited broader public debate on the influence of social media, freedom of expression, accountability, and the fine line between content creation and public safety in Ghana.
