Veteran Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has again spoken out to dismiss persistent rumours suggesting that her late colleague, Castro De Destroyer, is the biological father of her son, Okomfo Black.
The long-running speculation resurfaced in March 2025 after media personality Afia Schwarzenegger, during a TikTok live session, claimed that the late Castro—who disappeared in 2014 and was officially declared dead in 2021—was the father of Mzbel’s teenage son. Her comments reignited public debate and widespread online speculation about Okomfo Black’s paternity.
Responding to the claims, Mzbel firmly denied the allegation, stressing that the timeline of events makes the rumour baseless. She explained in an interview that she last interacted with Castro after composing a tribute song for the late Buk Bak member, Ronnie Coaches, who died on November 21, 2013. According to her, she gave birth to Okomfo Black several years after her friendship and professional relationship with Castro had ended.
Mzbel questioned why Ghanaians continue to associate her son with the late musician despite her repeated denials. She maintained that she is under no obligation to publicly disclose the identity of her son’s biological father, describing the matter as private.
The hiplife artiste also clarified that her son is fully aware of who his real father is and enjoys a healthy relationship with him. She added that Okomfo Black is intelligent and mature enough to understand the importance of privacy, which is why she has chosen not to reveal his father’s identity.
Despite her clarifications, the speculation has persisted on social media, prompting Mzbel to once again address the issue in an interview with popular blogger Zionfelix on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. During the interview, she reiterated that Castro was not her son’s father and warned that revealing the truth would spark prolonged controversy.
“There will be massive controversy if I disclose the identity of my son’s father,” she said. “The issue would not die down even after five years because the strange part is that he is a pastor.”
She further emphasised that Okomfo Black’s father is what many would describe as “a man of God,” making it clear that the late Castro was not involved. Mzbel also reflected on how her once-close friendship with Castro ended after he became closely associated with prominent footballers, including Asamoah Gyan.
The singer expressed disappointment that the rumours continue to circulate even after her consistent denials. She added that she knew Castro’s family personally and would never have prevented him from having access to her son if he were indeed the biological father.
Mzbel’s renewed comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users praising her for protecting the privacy and reputation of her son’s father, while others continue to question the circumstances surrounding the issue.
Once again, the outspoken musician has made it clear that while she is willing to address falsehoods, she remains resolute in keeping certain aspects of her personal life out of the public domain.
