Apostle Harrison Anyintete has reacted to Nigerian singer Skales’ recent testimony regarding the renewed popularity of his song Shake Body, which resurfaced after going viral through a dance video shared by Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.
Skales had earlier shared the testimony at Harvesters, explaining that his 2025 prayer points were answered in a single day after Lamine Yamal posted a video of himself dancing to the song. According to the singer, the viral moment led to a sudden resurgence in the track’s popularity and visibility.
Reacting to the testimony, Apostle Anyintete clarified that his comments were not a personal attack on Skales. Instead, he said his concerns were directed at the church’s decision to publicly project the testimony during a service.
In a lengthy response, the cleric questioned the spiritual value of the testimony, arguing that it did not encourage spiritual growth, devotion, or maturity among believers. He maintained that the testimony failed to promote godly values and warned that such narratives, when highlighted in church settings, could send the wrong message—particularly to younger members of the congregation.
According to Apostle Anyintete, celebrating success linked to music he described as promoting immorality could encourage others to pursue ungodly paths while still expecting divine blessings. He stressed that this, in his view, sets a poor example within the Christian community.
The cleric further explained that while Skales has every right to celebrate the success of his work on his personal platforms, churches should exercise discernment in what they present as testimonies. He warned that projecting such testimonies could blur the line between godliness and ungodly practices, ultimately undermining the church’s moral and spiritual standards.
Apostle Anyintete concluded by expressing goodwill toward Skales, stating that he held no personal grudge against the singer. However, he urged churches to be more intentional and cautious about the testimonies they showcase, emphasizing the need to inspire godliness and spiritual maturity among believers.
