Ghana to Finance Ukrainian Drone Production and Boost Agricultural Cooperation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ghana is prepared to support the production of Ukrainian drones, following a recent telephone conversation with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, President Zelensky highlighted Ghana's strong interest in Ukraine's drone technologies and its extensive operational experience gained during the ongoing conflict.

“Ghana is interested in our technologies, particularly the production of various types of drones and the experience we’ve accumulated during this war. Ghana is ready to finance our production, and we are prepared to assist our partners in strengthening their border security,” Zelensky stated.

Beyond defense cooperation, the two leaders discussed expanding bilateral ties in the agricultural sector. Key among the initiatives is the planned establishment of a food logistics hub in Ghana, aimed at enhancing food distribution and trade across the region.

“We explored opportunities to deepen our partnership, especially in the agro-industrial sector. One significant project under consideration is the creation of a food logistics hub in Ghana. We also agreed to organize a ministerial-level meeting soon, and a Ukrainian delegation will visit Ghana in the near future,” Zelensky added.

President Zelensky also extended a formal invitation to President Mahama to visit Ukraine.

This development builds on prior diplomatic engagements, including a March 2025 meeting in New Delhi between Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. That meeting focused on expanding trade and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
