Okatakyie Afrifa Warns NDC Ahead of Akwatia By-Election

Media personality Okatakyie Afrifa has issued a pointed warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the lead-up to the upcoming by-election in Akwatia. Speaking on his political commentary show, Afrifa urged the opposition party to avoid any form of electoral misconduct, referencing past disturbances in Ablekuma North.

Afrifa stated that although the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not currently in government, it remains ready to match any provocation from the NDC "boot for boot." He cautioned that any efforts to incite violence or manipulate the electoral process would not go unanswered.

"It’s better for the NDC not to start anything at all. If they do, they may not be able to finish it," Afrifa warned. He stressed that the NPP is committed to a fair electoral process but stands prepared to respond firmly if provoked, warning of the potential for serious consequences if tensions escalate.

His remarks have sparked debate, especially given the tense political atmosphere surrounding the by-election. Concerns have been raised about the possibility of political violence, with calls for calm and responsible behavior from all parties.

Neither the Electoral Commission nor the security agencies have responded to Afrifa's comments at this time. However, civil society groups are urging political leaders to promote peaceful campaigning and avoid inflammatory rhetoric.
