The Accra Regional Police Command has successfully rescued 16 victims of human trafficking in Ngleshie Amanfro, a suburb of Accra. The victims—12 males and 4 females—are nationals of Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
The operation was initiated following a report filed on July 24, 2025, concerning the disappearance of a young Ivorian, Chaka Kante. He had been missing for nine months after allegedly being deported to Ghana under the false promise of joining a football team.
In response, a police team accompanied the complainant to Toptown, another community in Ngleshie Amanfro, where the victims were discovered in a residential building. Among those rescued was the missing teenager, Chaka Kante.
According to a statement issued by Ms. Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, all 16 individuals are now safe and in police care.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the victims were lured from their home countries by individuals believed to be linked to a company known as Q-Net. They were misled with promises of lucrative job opportunities in Europe,” the statement revealed.
The Ivorian victims have been identified as:
* Denbele Mohammed (20)
* Sawadu Razak (20)
* Olivier Yasei (19)
* Wilfred Kwako (18)
* Philbe Kwame (25)
* Kante Shamar (19)
* Kwame Lambel (24)
* Kone Musah (24)
* Lasnel Kante (18)
The Burkinabe nationals include:
* Sajor Dijala (19)
* Abass Jeril (19)
* Wadrago Alice (22)
* Nyamego Winkode (22)
* Santa Elodi (23)
* Oamba Fatooma (22)
* Chaka Kante (17)
The victims are currently being housed in a safe facility. Arrangements are underway to transfer them to the Ghana Immigration Service for further screening and repatriation in line with established immigration protocols.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the individuals behind the trafficking scheme.
The Accra Regional Police Command has also issued a caution to the general public—especially parents and guardians—to be alert to fraudulent recruitment operations that falsely promise employment opportunities abroad.
“The Police urge anyone with information about the perpetrators to report to the nearest police station,” the statement concluded.
