The Office of the President has officially confirmed the deaths of eight individuals, including top government officials and military personnel, following the tragic crash of a Ghana Army helicopter in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on August 6, 2025.
The aircraft, a Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter, departed from Accra and was en route to Obuasi when it suddenly lost contact with air traffic controllers. A massive search operation was immediately launched by the Ghana Armed Forces, but sadly ended in the discovery of the burnt wreckage and charred remains of all on board.

- Limuna Muniru – Deputy National Security Coordinator
- Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Former Ashanti Regional Minister
- Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate, Obuasi East

At a press briefing held at the Jubilee House, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, offering condolences to the bereaved families and the nation at large. He noted that full state honors will be accorded to the deceased.
The burnt bodies of all eight victims have been recovered and transported to a military morgue for forensic examination. Images from the crash site are being shared with viewer discretion advised.
