Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of iconic Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has returned to Germany after a brief stay in Ghana to mourn the passing of her former husband.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, following a sudden illness at his East Legon home. His death has deeply impacted the Ghanaian music scene, prompting a wave of tributes from fans, fellow artists, and national figures.
In the days following the announcement, Akosua Serwaa flew in from Germany, arriving in Accra on July 31, 2025. She was received at Kotoka International Airport by her eldest son, Calvin Kwadwo Fosu, along with close family friend and gospel musician Papa Shee.
On Friday, August 1, Serwaa visited Daddy Lumba’s residence, where she was visibly emotional. Eyewitnesses described a somber scene as she joined family members and loved ones in mourning the man with whom she shared significant moments both personally and professionally.
After spending a few days in Ghana participating in family rites and paying her respects, she has since returned to Germany.
The passing of Daddy Lumba has reignited national reflection on his extraordinary contributions to Ghanaian highlife music, with many celebrating his enduring influence on the country’s cultural landscape.
