As the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) commences today, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has issued a strong warning to all school staff to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
In a statement released on August 5, Dr. Apaak emphasized the importance of maintaining fairness and accountability. He cautioned that any staff member—teaching or non-teaching—found aiding or facilitating cheating would face severe disciplinary action, including dismissal and possible prosecution.
“The integrity of our examinations is non-negotiable,” Dr. Apaak stated. “All staff must act with honesty and accountability throughout the exam period.”
To prevent examination malpractice, the Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), and national security agencies. Surveillance and monitoring efforts have been intensified nationwide to detect and address any irregularities.
Dr. Apaak further encouraged school staff to report any suspicious activity before, during, or after the exams. He stressed that educators must serve as role models and protect the futures of the students under their care.
“Our schools must be places where values are nurtured. Those who break the rules will not be protected,” he added.
The Ministry also extended best wishes to all candidates taking part in this year’s WASSCE. Dr. Apaak urged them to trust in their preparation and face the exams with confidence and integrity.
“Stay focused, trust in your training, and remember that success earned honestly is success that lasts,” he concluded.
