The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a formal caution to the media, urging responsible and fact-based reporting in relation to the recent helicopter crash that tragically claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians.
In a statement released on August 12, 2025, GAF emphasized the importance of sensitivity and accuracy, especially in the wake of such a national tragedy. The military described speculative media coverage as not only unhelpful but also deeply disrespectful to the grieving families and loved ones of the deceased.
According to the GAF, the cause of the crash, which occurred on August 6, 2025, remains under thorough investigation. The Armed Forces assured the public of a transparent and comprehensive inquiry to determine what led to the fatal incident and to provide clarity and closure.
As of August 12, two of the deceased have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The GAF has appealed to all media houses and journalists to refrain from publishing unverified information and to await official updates as the investigation progresses.
