The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a significant boost to the domestic league’s financial rewards, with the winner of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League set to receive a record-breaking prize of ₵2 million.
This announcement was made by GFA President Kurt Okraku during the Association’s 31st Ordinary Congress held in Prampram. He described the move as a “game changer” for Ghanaian football, aimed at increasing competitiveness and driving excellence across all participating clubs.
“This is a story that has never been told, but today it’s being told,” Okraku stated. “It has been our gospel according to our Premier League. Every point is important, and now there’s ₵2 million as prize money.”
The new prize package marks the highest payout in the history of the Ghana Premier League and reflects the GFA’s commitment to enhancing the standard of domestic football. According to Okraku, the initiative is expected to boost motivation among players, coaches, and fans, while also raising the overall profile of the league.
With 18 clubs competing in the top flight, the enhanced prize serves as a strong incentive to elevate performance and strengthen competition throughout the season.
