Renowned Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena has reaffirmed his belief in the enduring legacy of highlife music, echoing sentiments previously expressed by legendary artist Daddy Lumba.
Speaking during a candlelight vigil held in honor of the late Daddy Lumba, Kwabena Kwabena emphasized that highlife—a genre deeply rooted in Ghanaian culture—will never fade.
"Highlife is made by Ghanaians, for Ghanaians, and it will live on forever," he stated passionately. "Just as Daddy Lumba declared at the 2003 Ghana Music Awards, highlife will never die. He is a legend forever. Rest in peace, Legend."
His remarks came as he paid tribute through a moving performance, celebrating both the memory of Daddy Lumba and the vibrancy of the genre he helped elevate.
Kwabena Kwabena’s comments serve as a reminder of highlife’s cultural significance and its vital place in Ghana’s musical identity.
