Nigerian POS Agent Freed After Two Years in Prison Over Ransom Withdrawals Made by Kidnappers

A Nigerian Point-of-Sale (POS) agent has been released after spending two years in prison for unknowingly facilitating ransom withdrawals for kidnappers.

The story, which has since gone viral on TikTok, was shared by user @liousvee\_ml. According to the post, the female POS operator was approached by individuals—later identified as kidnappers—who used her terminal to withdraw sums ranging between ₦500,000 and ₦600,000. The money was allegedly collected from their victims as ransom payments

Unaware of the criminal background of her customers, the agent was arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Despite the subsequent arrest and conviction of the actual kidnappers, she remained incarcerated for two years.

A video accompanying the TikTok post shows the woman leaving prison visibly emotional, whispering, *"I suffer o,"* as she regained her freedom. The caption read:

> "This lady is an officer of the Boys Brigade and a POS operator who was implicated by kidnappers in a case she knew nothing about."

The user further wrote:

“Her machine was used to withdraw ₦500k to ₦600k randomly, and she has been in prison for 2 years. The most shocking part is that even after the kidnappers were arrested and jailed, she remained behind bars. GOD DID. Government, please help the masses.”

The video sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many users expressing their frustration at the apparent injustice and calling for systemic reform.

Here are some reactions from concerned Nigerians:

* **Prince 🤴Oki**: “Congratulations Esther, may your freedom be permanent 💯.”

* **Aishaliyu405**: “And the real criminals are out there... God, where are you? 😭😭”

* **favoritemarket\_woman**: “Congratulations… May Nigeria not happen to us o. We no go see police or court case wey go take us go prison o in Jesus name AMEN 🙏.”

* **💔 Famous LONER 😓**: “This can only happen when you don’t register your business. If the money had gone to a business account, she wouldn’t have been arrested.”

* **Graceful baby**: “Congratulations, but the story isn’t clear to me. Did she give birth in prison? Sorry to ask 🙏.”

* **HabibatIdris381**: “Omoh, things dey happen… May we never fall victim of what we know nothing about.”

* **I’m blessing lady boss**: “God abeg ooo, cover me and my business from evil.”

* **Shavi\_Da’Pees**: “Congratulations. May God restore all you’ve lost in the past two years—double fold, in Jesus’ name.”

* **Mama K**: “It is well with you! May the God of restoration return everything you’ve lost in Jesus’ name.”

The incident continues to fuel debate around wrongful imprisonment, lack of legal support for the underprivileged, and the need for fairer judicial processes in Nigeria.
