AY3HU: Veteran Actor Chiwetalu Agu Debunks Death Rumours in Viral Video

Renowned Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu has publicly refuted widespread social media rumours falsely claiming he had passed away. The 67-year-old actor, celebrated for his iconic comic roles, took to Instagram on Friday to assure fans, colleagues, and family members that he is very much alive and in good health.

 “I’m Not Going Anywhere” – Agu Speaks Out

In a viral video posted online, Agu formally introduced himself using his traditional title and firmly dismissed the death hoax.

> “Chief Chiwetalu Agu, Okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die anytime soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies,” he said.

>

> “Na who dig pit go fall inside. Na who dig grave go fall inside. I am yet to carry my grandchildren, and I must do so in good health when my children are ready.”

Agu went on to condemn those behind the rumour, describing the claims as false, attention-seeking content created by irresponsible individuals. He also warned that had the rumour been published by a reputable blog, he would have taken legal action for defamation and damages.

### False Death Reports: A Disturbing Trend

The actor’s video came shortly after an unverified blog post falsely reported his death, triggering confusion and concern across social media platforms. Many fans scrambled to verify the news before Agu personally intervened.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Several Nigerian celebrities, particularly within the Nollywood industry, have been victims of similar hoaxes in recent years. Agu noted this trend as both troubling and reflective of a growing problem of misinformation and gullibility among some social media users.

# Fans React

Social media users quickly shared their relief and support after Agu’s video went live:

* **@UniqueBilly1:** “He is very much alive, please.”

* **@keenn.eth:** “Thank God he’s alive.”

* **@cryptoboi:** “Why would someone make such a post or video? Just for views?”

* **@JoyVee:** “He should sue the blogger.”

* **@melissa:** “People just spread fake news anyhow. God bless him with long life.”

Ken Ofori-Atta Files Legal Action Against Special Prosecutor Over 'Wanted Person' Label

Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has taken legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), seeking an injunction to prevent the agency from continuing to label him as a “wanted person” or “fugitive from justice.” This legal move comes after Ofori-Atta's image and personal details were publicly displayed on the OSP's official social media pages, despite earlier assurances made in a letter dated February 18, 2025. In a motion filed by his legal team, Ofori-Atta argues that the OSP's actions violate the principles of administrative justice, specifically the right to a fair process and the protection of his personal dignity. Additionally, Ofori-Atta seeks an interlocutory injunction to stop the OSP from issuing any further press releases or public statements that ...
