Former Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has praised former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the most distinguished Vice President Ghana has ever had.
In an interview on Wontumi TV, the seasoned politician emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s exceptional performance during his tenure under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Constitutionally, the Vice President has no fixed duties unless delegated by the President,” he noted. “However, recognizing Dr. Bawumia’s competence, President Akufo-Addo gave him the space to operate—and just look at the results.”
Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu highlighted that what sets Dr. Bawumia apart from his predecessors is the scale, vision, and tangible impact of his initiatives.
“What separates him from past Vice Presidents is the sheer scale, vision, and impact of his work. These are not just ideas — they are measurable results. He stands head and shoulders above the rest,” he stated.
He also drew comparisons with former President John Mahama and the late Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, asserting that Dr. Bawumia’s achievements in economic management and innovation far surpass theirs.
“Even Mahama, who was often described as a 'lucky Vice President', did not reach this level of impact. And respectfully, the performance of the late Amissah-Arthur pales in comparison. Through his competence and deep understanding of economic management, Dr. Bawumia has left an indelible mark,” he added.
Touching on Dr. Bawumia’s digitalization initiatives, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu commended his visionary leadership and innovation.
“His proposals to the Bank of Ghana and his digital transformation agenda reflect the kind of forward-thinking leader he is. He’s highly creative, immensely capable, and clearly divinely gifted. That’s why many of us are proud to support him,” he concluded.
