Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, previously boasted about his long-range shooting skills, according to a former coworker.
The former colleague, who worked with Robinson in 2023 at a construction site in St. George, Utah, described him as generally quiet and reserved—except when discussing firearms.
“He told us he once made a 450-yard shot,” the coworker recalled. “It was one of the only times I saw him truly animated.”
This recollection came flooding back after news broke that Robinson had been arrested for allegedly firing the rooftop shot that killed Kirk as he addressed a crowd at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Authorities have labeled the shooting a politically motivated attack. However, individuals who knew Robinson expressed disbelief, stating he rarely, if ever, discussed politics.
“He was the last person I’d suspect of something like this,” the former colleague said. “He kept to himself and never talked about political issues.”
One peculiar habit now stands out in hindsight: Robinson’s tendency to clench his fists—something observed on the job site and later confirmed in security footage from the night of the incident.
