Fatal Collision on Obuasi–Dunkwa Highway Claims One Life, Several Injured



A tragic accident on the Obuasi–Dunkwa highway has claimed the life of one person and left several others injured.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, near Sanso Junction, when a Kia truck with registration number AS 1434-17, driven by 31-year-old Yahaya Abdul Samed, veered into oncoming traffic. The truck collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus (registration AS 3789-21) driven by 32-year-old Ibrahim Yusif.

The Sprinter bus, which was traveling from Obuasi to Dunkwa, was carrying 23 passengers at the time of the collision.

Emergency services responded promptly, and the injured were transported to both the Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Unfortunately, 62-year-old Mary Boatemaa, a passenger on the Sprinter bus, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and any contributing factors.
