The body of a staff member of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has been discovered in a stream located between Abira and Krobo in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Thomas Obeng, who was reportedly recovering from a recent illness. According to reports, Mr. Obeng had traveled from Abira to visit his wife in the nearby community of Krobo.
After the visit, he informed his wife that he was heading back to Abira. However, he did not arrive home, and his whereabouts remained unknown until his body was found in the stream on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The exact cause of death remains unknown, and investigations are currently underway. His body has been conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy and further examination.
Isaac Owusu Bempah, the Assembly Member for the Abira Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
This unfortunate incident adds to growing concerns about safety around water bodies in Ghana.
