The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested Alhaji Sofo Azorka in connection with an alleged assault on Alhaji Masawudu Osman, the Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during the recent Akwatia by-election.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 2, 2025, amid electoral activities in the constituency.
According to a police statement released on Friday, September 12, Azorka was arrested in Tamale on Wednesday, September 10, as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged incident. He provided a caution statement to the authorities and was subsequently granted bail.
As part of the legal process, Azorka is expected to report to the Eastern South Regional Police Command in Kyebi on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where court proceedings will continue.
