The campaign team of Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, has issued a strong warning to the camp of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in response to what it describes as "vicious and unprovoked" personal attacks by one of Bawumia’s known loyalists, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Agyapong campaign expressed deep concern over comments made by KOKA during a recent appearance on Wontumi Television. The team accused him of launching a personal attack on their candidate, which they deemed unacceptable and unjustified.
“Our campaign has always focused on ideas, vision, and principles. We have never engaged in personal vilification,” the statement read. “Yet in a widely circulated video, KOKA, a known loyalist of Dr. Bawumia, made unwarranted and malicious remarks aimed at Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong.”
Describing the development as “astonishing and hypocritical,” the campaign team questioned the consistency of the Vice President's image as a peaceful leader.
“It is both hypocritical and astonishing for Dr. Bawumia to be portrayed as a symbol of peace while his surrogates engage in intimidation, bullying, and abuse—with no rebuke from his leadership,” they stated.
The campaign team suggested that Dr. Bawumia’s silence on the matter amounts to tacit approval of the conduct.
“Silence in the face of such behavior is an endorsement. By failing to condemn these attacks, Dr. Bawumia and his inner circle have, through their inaction, condoned them.”
Issuing a firm caution, the Agyapong team made it clear that they would not tolerate character assassination or smear campaigns moving forward.
“Let there be no ambiguity: the Ken Ohene Agyapong campaign is fully aware of the dynamics at play and will not allow reckless defamation to go unchallenged,” the statement warned.
In conclusion, the team reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and discipline within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but cautioned against interpreting their civility as weakness.
“We will continue to uphold peace, unity, and discipline within the party. However, peace must not be mistaken for weakness, and unity must not be confused with cowardice,” the statement concluded.
