Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft of a service pistol belonging to the Ahafo Newmont Mines Company at Ntotroso, near Kenyase in the Ahafo Region.
According to a statement issued by the Bono Regional Police Command, the incident occurred on January 13, 2025, and involved a Beretta service pistol with registration number GHGP/NHQ/CTD/H78688Z13.
The suspects — Joseph Blackige, 25; Kwabena Dodzi, 44; and Adu Yeboah Abraham, also known as Okwaraji, 46 — were apprehended on November 12, 2025, together with an 18-year-old woman, Priscilla Awuni.
Police reports indicate that an intelligence-led operation carried out by the National Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) led to the arrest of Blackige and Awuni at Ntotroso. Although a search of Blackige’s residence produced no evidence, he later admitted during interrogation that he had handed over the stolen pistol to Dodzi.
Blackige subsequently led investigators to the residence of Adu Yeboah Abraham. A search of the premises uncovered six BB cartridges, suspected gunpowder, and cash totaling GH¢28,844. All items were seized to support ongoing investigations.
The suspects were arraigned before the Fiapre Circuit Court on provisional charges of theft and possession of stolen property. The presiding judge, H/W Mrs. Akua Adoma Addae, granted police enquiry bail to Priscilla Awuni while investigations continue.
The three male suspects remain in police custody and are expected to reappear before the court on November 28, 2025.
