Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has issued a strong warning to US President Donald Trump and the American military against any potential intervention in Nigeria. This statement follows reports suggesting that Washington may consider action over the alleged persecution of Christians in the country.
Dokubo’s Firm Stance
In a viral Facebook video, the ex-leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force warned that any foreign military incursion would face significant resistance. Dokubo described Nigeria as potentially becoming “the graveyard” for Trump and any invading forces.
He said: “Let Trump come with his America; they will all die.” Criticizing US foreign policy, he added: “This lunatic wants to annex Canada, target Iceland, and threaten leaders in Venezuela and Iran. America is a nation that elects dangerous leaders.”
Criticism of US Hypocrisy
Dokubo accused the United States of hypocrisy regarding human rights and moral issues. He questioned why the US addresses alleged persecution in Nigeria while remaining silent on conflicts in places like Congo, Gaza, and Sudan.
A self-described Muslim raised among non-Muslims, Dokubo rejected claims that the violence in Nigeria is solely religious. He emphasized that both Muslims and Christians are affected by the ongoing conflict.
Warning Against Interference
Dokubo made it clear that, unlike those who speak without action, he and his allies are prepared to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty if threatened.
