The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly refuted media reports claiming that it incurred losses exceeding GH¢3 billion in its first year of operations, labeling the allegations as “false” and “deliberately contrived.”
The denial follows a report by Accra Asaase Radio suggesting that GoldBod was operating at a significant financial loss.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, the board vehemently rejected the claims, asserting that they were baseless and designed to tarnish the institution's efforts to contribute to Ghana’s economic revitalization.
“The publication in question is entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contributions of GoldBod,” the statement read.
GoldBod further clarified that, contrary to the report, it has consistently been generating “significant surpluses and profits” since its establishment. The board assured that its upcoming quarterly financial statements, set to be released on its official website, will provide transparent evidence of its strong financial performance.
The board also urged the public to disregard the misleading report and called on Asaase Radio to retract the story and issue an unqualified apology for publishing what it described as an unethical and erroneous claim.
