A Nigerian woman is heartbroken after losing a man she believed could be her future husband, all because of her state of origin.
In an emotional TikTok post, Perpettual Ejeh explained that the breakup wasn’t caused by any issues with the man himself—he didn’t mind where she was from. The real problem, she said, was his mother, who reportedly disapproved of her being from Benue State.
Perpettual, visibly upset, shared her feelings in the video, saying, *“I just lost a potential husband. Guess why? Because of my state. Because I’m from Benue State. The guy is not the issue. The guy is not even bothered about where I’m from. Guess who is bothered? The mother. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know if I should be angry or I should laugh.”*
Her candid confession has sparked discussions online about the role of family approval in relationships and the impact of state of origin on romantic choices.
