The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has carried out a pre-dawn raid at the notorious “Yellow Face” illegal mining site located in Wassa Abrehyia in the Western Region.
The surprise operation prompted many illegal miners to flee the area to avoid arrest. During the exercise, NAIMOS officers dismantled makeshift structures and seized equipment used for unauthorized mining activities.
Investigators at the scene also discovered substantial quantities of illicit drugs and explosives, highlighting the severity of criminal activities taking place at the site.
According to NAIMOS, similar targeted operations will continue in the coming days and weeks as part of an intensified effort to curb illegal mining and eliminate the circulation of illicit substances in affected communities.
