Professor Ernest Yorke has been elected President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), securing a decisive victory over his closest contender, Dr. Justice Yankson.
Prof. Yorke received 1,857 votes, representing 53.6% of the total valid ballots cast. The results were announced by the Chairperson of the GMA Electoral Committee, Dr. Rita Larsen-Reindorf, following the conclusion of voting on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
A respected educator and health advocate, Prof. Yorke has held several leadership roles within the association, including serving on the Junior Doctors’ Representative Council, as Divisional Secretary, Divisional Vice Chair, and as a member of the GMA Council.
His election is expected to strengthen the association’s ongoing efforts to advance healthcare standards and advocate for the welfare of medical professionals across the country.
