The Deputy Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, Dr. Ekua Amoakoh, has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Eastern Region have overwhelmingly pledged their support for the Vice President’s presidential ambition. She attributed this endorsement to Dr. Bawumia’s long-standing loyalty to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his clear vision for Ghana’s development.
Dr. Amoakoh revealed that the campaign team initially anticipated a divided front in the region, given that one of Dr. Bawumia’s competitors in the flagbearer race hails from the Eastern Region. However, their constituency tour proved otherwise.
“We thought that because one of the candidates was from the Eastern Region, we might encounter difficulty securing support for Dr. Bawumia. But we were completely surprised,” she said. “Regional executives told us that Dr. Bawumia’s unwavering loyalty and support to former President Akufo-Addo throughout his tenure should now be reciprocated. They have chosen to support him wholeheartedly.”
She further noted that stakeholders across the region praised Dr. Bawumia’s vision, humility, and proven track record—qualities they believe make him the ideal candidate to lead the party into the next presidential election.
“All the constituencies we visited pledged their support—the Council of Elders, patrons, chairpersons, Members of Parliament, and electoral area coordinators,” she added.
In Akuapem North, approximately 30 electoral area coordinators reportedly signed documents affirming their commitment to vote for Dr. Bawumia.
Dr. Amoakoh also highlighted that her team was the third campaign delegation to tour the region, yet party members waited specifically to declare their allegiance to Dr. Bawumia. She described this as a significant and encouraging gesture.
“This shows that they truly meant what they told us, and it makes us very happy. We are assuring them that we will not disappoint,” she said.
