Former Nigerian HOD Speaks on the Difficult Reality of Starting Anew in the UK

A Nigerian man has shared his personal experience on social media, shedding light on the often-overlooked challenges of relocating to the United Kingdom and starting life from scratch.

In a video posted on X by a user identified as @Teniola, the man revealed that he once served as a Head of Department (HOD) in Nigeria. The senior role afforded him professional recognition, a comfortable lifestyle, and flexible working hours, allowing for a well-structured daily routine without the need for early mornings.

However, his situation changed drastically after moving to the UK. He disclosed that he now begins work as early as 4:30 a.m., a routine he described as physically demanding and difficult to adjust to. Despite his extensive experience and leadership position back home, he admitted that rebuilding his career in a new country has been challenging.

According to him, his story mirrors the experiences of many Nigerians who migrate abroad in search of better opportunities. While living overseas may come with improved earnings and prospects, it often requires immigrants to endure long hours, demanding jobs, and significant lifestyle adjustments as they work their way up.

His comments have generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians in the diaspora sharing similar experiences. Several agreed that although life abroad can be financially rewarding, the workload and physical demands can be overwhelming.
