Ghana’s U15 Girls have secured their spot in the final of the WAFU B Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF African Schools Championship after a commanding 3–0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in Wednesday's semifinal in Ouagadougou.
The defending champions were in scintillating form throughout the tournament, scoring an impressive 15 goals in just three matches, as they made it to a second consecutive final.
After a tight and cautious first half, Margaret Akosua Tawiah, the tournament's leading scorer, broke the deadlock early in the second half from the penalty spot. Her goal calmed Ghana’s nerves and set the stage for a dominant finish.
Belinda Kpentey then doubled the lead with a spectacular strike, before Mavis Koah added a third to complete the convincing victory at the 4 August Stadium.
Ghana's path to the final has been marked by their dominance. Sandra Boakye’s team started their campaign with a 5–0 thrashing of Benin, followed by an emphatic 7–0 win over Niger, topping their group in style. Their attacking flair, tactical discipline, and impressive teamwork have earned them admiration from fans in Burkina Faso, where they’ve showcased a blend of pace, precision, and creativity.
With the momentum on their side, Ghana now turns their attention to Thursday's final, where they will face hosts Burkina Faso. The match promises to be an exciting and competitive affair, with Ghana entering as favorites, though the home crowd and a determined Burkinabé team could prove a tough challenge in their bid to retain the title they won in Niger last year.
The WAFU B qualifiers, organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), are part of a broader continental initiative aimed at nurturing grassroots football and developing the next generation of African football stars.
The WAFU-B zone, which includes regional powerhouses such as Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, and hosts Burkina Faso, remains one of Africa’s most fiercely competitive regions for youth football development.
