Haruna Amaliba, a member of the NDC Communication Team, has announced his intention to contest the Bawku Central parliamentary seat, currently held by Mahama Ayariga. Amaliba made the declaration during a media interaction on Happy 98.9FM, confirming that he is fully prepared to face the incumbent MP in the party’s upcoming primaries.
Amaliba issued a bold challenge to Ayariga, urging him to prepare for a highly competitive race. “Ayariga should be ready. I will meet him in Bawku Central,” he said, signaling his readiness to vie for the seat.
Highlighting his deep connections to the constituency, Amaliba emphasized his historical and familial ties to the area. “My grandfather is the founder of the modern Kusasi State. I have the bona fide right to serve as Member of Parliament for Bawku Central,” he asserted.
Amaliba made it clear that he is committed to the race and will not be swayed by outside influences. “I don’t need any calls from anyone. I am contesting him, and he will meet me there,” he declared.
In a further sign of his determination, Amaliba hinted that if he were to lose the party’s internal election, he would consider running as an independent candidate. “If I lose, I will go independent,” he affirmed.
He reiterated that Bawku Central deserves new leadership and made it clear that he is ready to offer an alternative to the incumbent. "Bawku Central needs a change, and I am prepared to provide that leadership," Amaliba concluded.
