The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has officially opened a two-day Regional Crime Officers’ Conference aimed at strengthening the investigative capabilities of the Ghana Police Service.
The conference, which began on Thursday, December 18, 2025, brings together Crime Officers from all 25 police regions, as well as directors from key units of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters. Members of the Police Management Board also attended the event.
In his address, the IGP highlighted the crucial role Crime Officers play in modern policing, especially as criminal activities become increasingly complex and sophisticated. He emphasized that today's evolving crime trends require advanced investigative methods, greater professionalism, and continuous training to ensure effective law enforcement.
Yohuno reiterated his administration's commitment to improving investigative standards within the police service, noting that enhancing investigative capacity is key to staying ahead of criminals and rebuilding public trust in the force.
The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, also addressed the participants, stressing the connection between thorough investigations and successful prosecutions. She remarked that “the success of criminal prosecution largely depends on effective criminal investigations.”
The conference is expected to focus on the latest crime trends, best practices, and strategies to enhance the operational effectiveness of Crime Officers nationwide.
