The Ministry of the Interior has firmly rejected allegations that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng survived two assassination attempts, stating that no security agency in Ghana has any record to support such claims.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, the Ministry responded to remarks made by Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). Mr. Darko had alleged in a December 6 interview that the Special Prosecutor survived two attempts on his life and that he himself had been handcuffed and assaulted by police officers.
The Ministry emphasized that, if accurate, such allegations would raise serious concerns about national anti-corruption efforts. However, it noted that preliminary checks—following discussions with Mr. Agyebeng—suggest the incidents purportedly occurred years ago and were never reported to the police or any national security agency.
According to the Ministry, “there is no evidence on record at any police station or national security agency to indicate that the Special Prosecutor ever reported threats on his life.”
The Interior Minister has since called for a thorough investigation into both the alleged assassination attempts and the reported assault on Mr. Darko. The Ministry assured the public that it will provide updates as the investigations continue.
